Many of you saw the following post on Nextdoor Magnolia?earlier today:

Hello, neighbors and other block watch captains. See below for some very disturbing news from our neighbor on 39th West. She certainly did the right thing by calling 911. If you have anything you can add to her report, please call our police contact at 684-8996.

Subject: A teenager fired a gun with no bullets at me 5x

Saturday morning, around 9:30 am, I was sitting at my dining room table. I heard some snapping sounds, looked up, and three teenagers were looking at me while one was lowering the gun he had pointed towards me and had just finished firing 5 shots without bullets. The gun looked like a black Glock pistol. It is possible it was an air gun, but I did not see any color on the weapon. Either way, someone in the neighborhood has a teenager walking around aiming and firing a gun at strangers.

The 911 dispatcher took this very seriously and dispatched an officer immediately while I was on the phone with her. The first responder did not see the kids, but they weren’t walking fast so I assume that one of them lives on 39th Ave W between Armour and Crestmont, or very nearby.

The teenager with the gun is about 15 years old, dirty-blonde, short hair, tall, medium build, wearing loose fitting black polyester shorts down to his knees, a white cotton t-shirt, and white socks pulled up to his calves. He was concealing the gun in a gray plastic shopping bag and pulled it out and fired shots about every 300 feet. I’m pretty sure that he aimed at his friends head at one point, but hard to say. The two other boys appeared younger, approximately 13-14 years old, tall and thin, shorter than the older boy. They also had short hair and were dressed similarly to the older boy. The second boy had brown hair with a bright, neonish, green backpack on his back, white shorts down to his knees, and black socks pulled up to his calves. The third boy was wearing pale gray shorts with 2 pinstripes on each side, also extending down to his knees.

Magnolia Voice followed up on the?story. Earlier today, we received a call from a woman who turned out to be a mother of one of the teens.? She recognized him from the description above and spoke with him after he got home from school.?Her son?confirmed his involvement in the incident.? He told his mom that he and his friends were playing with a toy gun and had no idea that someone thought they were being shot at.?The boys are in the process of contacting the homeowner to apologize.

The mother of the teen is hoping this will be a good lesson for both her son and others in our community.
