Construction at Terminal 91 may be noisy for neighbors

You may hear some construction noise coming?from a project at Terminal 91.? Crews began work yesterday and plan to be done?by mid-September of this year.?Here’s what they are working on:

  • removal of existing asphalt paving (approximately 16?x64? area)
  • excavation and disposal of contaminated soils (diesel and lube oil-range petroleum hydrocarbon)
  • removal and disposal of any underground storage tank(s) or associated pipe if encountered
  • backfill excavated area with structural fill; and repave disturbed areas with asphalt concrete pavement

Rosie Courtney from the Port of Seattle says:

The project is part of an Agreed Order (DE 8938) between the Port of Seattle and the Washington Department of Ecology.? The Port will be performing construction activities relating to the cleanup of the area known as the West Central Building 136 of the Terminal 91.? Neighbors might hear normal construction noise (trucks, backhoes, saw cutting,? paving equipment and pressure washing machines).? To minimize the sound from equipment back up alarms, crews will work in a ?loop? which will keep equipment moving in a forward direction.

Normal construction hours will be between 7:00AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Contact Rosie Courtney (206) 787-3414 or Courtney.r@portseattle.org if you have questions or concerns.
