Two?of Magnolia’s bridges will be painted over the summer.? Work started today?on the W Howe Street Bridge between Magnolia Boulevard W and Clise Place W, adjacent to Magnolia Park.??SDOT says the project involves painting the pedestrian railing on the south side and the north side traffic railing, and should be done in about?three weeks.? Car traffic will be reduced to a single lane, and?a temporary pedestrian path will be established in the roadway while the contractors are working on the south side.? Look for flaggers- they will be there to help with traffic flow. Two-lane traffic will be restored at the end of each work day.
Next on the docket is?the W Dravus Street Bridge over the rail yard, between Magnolia and Interbay. The bridge railings, and several light poles will?get a fresh coat of paint.? SDOT says the curb lane will be closed while painting; but, the two lanes of eastbound traffic will remain open 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. each weekday morning, and two westbound lanes will remain open each weekday afternoon from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.? One of the sidewalks (either the north or?south sides of the bridge) will always be open during the painting.?Expect this project to be finished in two to three weeks.
Work on both bridges will be conducted weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
