Plan ahead for smooth sailing on the Fourth

If you?re going to watch the Fourth of July fireworks from a boat, be aware that travel may be a little trickier than usual on the Ship Canal. The Seattle Department of Transportation has been granted authority for temporary changes in the operation of the Fremont, Ballard and University Drawbridges on the evening of the Fourth. SDOT says:
The changes will allow heavy vehicle traffic to disperse following the holiday fireworks display on Lake Union. The fireworks show will start at 10 p.m. and end at roughly 11 p.m. The Fremont Bridge will be closed to vessels from 9 p.m. on July 4 until 12:30 a.m. July 5.? The University and Ballard bridges will not open for marine traffic between 10 p.m. on July 4 and 1 a.m. on July 5.
Happy boating!
