West Point to screen out more muck

To help keep inert objects out of farms and forests, the West Point wastewater treatment plant in Discovery Park will be using a finer screening process.

The process will use bar screens 3/8 inches or finer. It currently has 5/8-inch screens, which allow inert objects from solids to pass through the system. The new process will meet the guidelines imposed by the Washington State biosolids regulations. You can see some of these guidelines here.

West Point will have new screens installed in its existing building and the county will soon construct a new building adjacent to the existing one to process more screened material.
