For at least three years she had been collecting deposits from would-be renters. But when it came time to let the renters move in, Magnolia landlord Diana J. Delaney, 63, took the money and ran.

The?Seattle PI reports that police began investigating Delaney back in February 2009??after a woman reported that she?d put down a deposit on a home in the 3800 block of 34th Avenue West but Delaney backed out of the arrangement and kept the cash. Over the years, Delaney had collected close to $36,000 in her false-promise scams.

On Wednesday, Delaney entered a modified guilty plea to theft charges. She will be sentenced in King County Superior Court Nov. 4.

  1. Having been bilked by this woman myself about 18 months ago, it’s good to see her getting her just desserts.? On the other hand, it is easy to recognize herin various Craigslist ads so she is still in business.? I hope they are able to?fully stop her from hurting more people as time goes by. ?

    1. ?I used to see her listings … an ex-diplomat/writer/professor/antiques dealer that would simultaneously list the top floor, bottom floor, and entire house for rent on Craigslist, for different amounts in different sections.? The two dogs were always mentioned.? The listings were up pretty much constantly for a year or two any time I checked.

There’s also a “Dr. Diana Delaney-Finch” that has offered counseling services in the Seattle area, but is not licensed in Washington (despite claiming otherwise).
