Szmania?s now a steakhouse

As we first told you, long time Magnolia fine dining restaurant Szmania?s has been undergoing a major change, with a new name. remodeled interior and a revamped menu.  As of today, the restaurant is now Szmania?s Steakhouse and Bar and the menu is filled with beef.  You can check out the menu here.

Here is the info from owner Julie Szmania who sent this note out to guests today:

We are excited to announce the first major menu change in 21 years at SZMANIA?S.   Chef Ludger, despite his roots in classical sauces and continental cuisine, has always been a meat guy. A year or so ago, I wondered why he didn?t cook some of his favorite foods he likes to prepare at home at the restaurant?meat-and-potatoes sensations that his family and friends love.

We are also aware that neighbors seeking out restaurants featuring delicious meats had to go downtown or make a long drive across town to find their beef.

The new menu is filled with Ludger?s favorites, including steaks in two sizes (New York, filet, tenderloin skewers, prime top sirloin and rib-eye) and a pork chop, along with fresh Salmon & Halibut and seafood selections, sandwiches and lighter fare, plus a variety of side choices and terrific sauces.   All grilled entries come with a fresh garden salad, choice of potato, seasonal vegetables and warm bread?creating a great value, traditionally one of the benefits of a SZMANIA?S meal.

Our roots run deep in Magnolia and it?s our sincere hope you will enjoy these changes, try something new, kick back and relax. We?ll raise a glass to longevity?in restaurants, friendship and life.

  3. Just tasted the “hotdog” on the new menu. It was incredibly delicious. The place looks great, and after sampling and seeing what others were ordering and devouring, it would appear that the new menu is a hit. Glad to see you kept some of the old favorites, and continue to offer portion size options. Julie and Ludger, Kudos!!

  4. Best wishes for continued success with the new menu, and I like a good steak as much as the next person, but when I go out to spend a few bucks, I like to get something that would be tough to make at home.? I know how to grill a steak and bake a potato.? But kudos I suppose?for adopting?what may be a more popular menu.? I’m just kind of bummed.?

    1. Hi Hungryguy:? Please don’t be bummed.? We still have some wonderful culinary items on our menu including signature German food, fresh seafood and fish, some delicious and complicated Steak Sauces (Brandy Au Poivre, Red Wine Bordelaise, Gorgonzola Cream and many other thing that you might not be able to make at home nearly as well as Chef Ludger.? Don’t give up the ship–stop by and try a few things out.? We hope for all our sakes, that this menu and concept is a big hit.? We’ve been weathering this economic storm for a long time and have already seen a really positive change.? Thanks for caring enough to comment!?
