Magnolia panel taking shape

Sculptor John Leglar is making progress on the Magnolia Historical Society?s (MHS) stone panel that will be installed in The Village this spring. The sculpture will honor Magnolia?s history and commemorate the tenth anniversary of the MHS.

Leglar says he is pleased with the progress so far.  ?The bas-relief is nearing completion, and I will now attend to the finer details of carving and shading the Texas limestone. I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to our community.?

The finished product will be unveiled at a ceremony at Our Lady of Fatima Parish on April 10th at 2pm. The Magnolia Historical Society is also hosting various other events in the month of April. Details here

  1. We are holding a community event at a catholic church?? Don’t you think that would offend the NON Catholic part of the community? This is a great thing to be celebrating but do think it’s a very poor choice in location for the unveiling. Should have been at the COMUNITY CENTER since a community event. Nothing against Catholics at all just saying a poor choice. On another note John Leglars art looks amazing!! Great job!

  3. I’m not catholic but I’m not in the least offended by the choice. In fact I thank the parish for making their location available.
