Magnolia Voice readers spotted some unannounced speed limit changes on 15th Avenue West and Elliott Avenue which affect you and your drive. Here is what we learned from SDOT: With the Emerson overpass construction, increased traffic volume, and additional car wrecks, Seattle?s Department of Transportation finds it necessary to immediately lower limits on those streets, without much notice.
From Ballard traveling southbound, it?s 30 MPH to the middle of the bridge, where it increases to 40.
Just south of Dravus Street is drops to 35 MPH and stays that speed all the way to West Harrison Street (Shanty Cafe), where it decreases to 30 MPH.
There were 254 car accidents, including a fatality, over that stretch of roadway during the past three years, according to SDOT.
Please drive safely.
