MV tipster Monica sent this earlier today:
Last night around 11pm, a car missed the big curve on Magnolia Blvd by 34th Court West.? We live at 34th Court W and Magnolia Blvd W, and we heard the accident from our bedroom in the back of the house.? It sounded like someone had hit the house, and my husband looked outside to see what was going on and heard hysterical crying, which meant something was terribly wrong. My husband ran out first, I grabbed my phone and dialed 911 on the way outside.? A car was dramatically off the road (40+ feet, maybe more?) and had crashed into a large tree.? There was a young man lying on the ground some feet away, alert and very upset, but not very coherent.? We could hear the sirens responding while I was still on the phone with 911, and checked the vehicle to make sure no one else was involved.? A witness who was driving said they had seen him in the vehicle, going very fast just moments before the impact.? An ambulance took him away, there were multiple emergency vehicles, and the car was towed. This is the second time in the past year and a half that there has been a serious accident (cars that have been totaled, injured occupants) at this curve in Magnolia Blvd.? In December of 2012, someone missed the curve around 1am and crashed into the eagle statues at the entrance of 34th Court West, resulting in significant property damage.? I’m concerned for our neighborhood’s safety: our children play on our front yard facing the street.? In 6 years of living here, the neighbors have witnessed probably 6-10 accidents involving vehicles missing the curve due to speed and other variables.?Maybe this will prompt people to take care and not speed through the neighborhood, particularly this curve?
Drive safely out there!
Make you wonder why the city removed the guard rails on the blvd
Darwinism.
I regularly see people, including moms, going waaay too fast around the village and on Magnolia Blvd. This is really sad. It is a good reminder to slow down and remember all the people walking and biking around this neighborhood at all hours. I feel like summer is worse for this kind of thing.
