This email was sent to MV earlier this week. Be safe out there!
A house on W. Emerson Street by Discovery Park entrance was broken into during the day on April 2. Between the hours of 11am and 2pm, Burglars broke into the home through a basement window. The Police believe that a professional team of robbers are working Magnolia and Queen Anne neighborhoods.? Police believe that the robbers first canvas the neighborhood under the guise of collecting donations for “poor children”. The “suspects” knock on doors, and if you answer your door they solicit donations, if you are not home they “case” your home for a robbery. The “suspects” are described as Hispanic males in their mid-twenties or early thirties, they may be wearing backpacks, driving an early 1980’s Blue-Green 4-door Honda. It is believed that there is a team of four males, one who drives the car, while the other three males are canvassing different homes in the area.? If you know any information or saw a blue/green Honda in the neighborhood during that day, please let the police know.
We also reveived this one from Chris:
I was in Discovery Park on April 6 and my car was broken into (smash and grab) while I was working out in the park, between the hours of 9 – 11 AM.? I was parked in the South Parking lot.? My black gym bag, a gray Camelback, and wallet were taken.? I know that It will be unlikely that I’ll get anything back, but I wanted to reach out into the community to see if anyone has found anything (may have been discarded) or by chance may have seen something happen.
Please send us your stories!
Thanks. Chris.
Thanks. Chris.
Teams of criminals acting on behalf of “humanitarian causes” are casing our neighborhoods on a regular basis now. The activity has increased dramatically in the last half year. Please take pictures of ANY stranger who knocks on your door. That way if a home in your area is knocked off, you’ll have a suspect to report. Or share on this blog…..
….and for anyone who considers it helpful, seriously consider measures so no one can come on your property, as I have described with our locked gate and planted hedges. If you don’t have a fenced yard, be creative and really think what you can do within your budget to prohibit people from approaching your home. Taking pictures is a good idea but relys on someone else doing something about them. Prohibiting entry on your property is the only way to avoid the problem in the first place.
Good idea taking a picture of the stranger knocker! 🙂
If the police believe they are working QA and Magnolia neighborhoods are they planning to INCREASE their presence in the neighborhoods???
yes they are. I saw one a couple of days ago walking around downtown nursing starbucks and a muffin.
I would guess… No. The reason is that professional and amateur-aspiring criminal gangs are presently working every neighborhood in the city. Police can’t be in every neighborhood on every street, every day. However, the people who live in these neighborhoods are around every day and could be a little more observant about what is going on around them. That might INCLUDE writing down physical descriptions, license plate numbers, taking pictures and making TIMELY reports of suspicious activity to both 911 and this blog.
