March marks the return of the Great Blue Heron to Kiwanis Ravine and the Commodore locks. All are invited to join Heron Habitat Helpers at their Annual Meeting and free Open House, Saturday March 9 from 12:30 – 2:30pm to learn more about these incredible birds. There will be a crafts for kids, videos, light refreshments and?a short walk to tour of the ravine to (hopefully) see the herons as they gather to choose a mate and build their nests.

Are you passionate about herons and love to dig out invasives or plant trees? That same morning on Saturday March 9 at 9:00am, you can participate in one of?their Second Saturday Work Parties to help restore the heron habitat. No experience necessary. Just a love of herons, nature and meeting new people. Bring your work gloves and dress for the weather. They’ll be at two sites, KRO (36th Ave W and W Ohman Place) and KRS (end of W.
