Fall brings an Acorn to the Village

Actually opened this summer,?a huge welcome is overdue to the new shop, Acorn Floral on? Viewmont Way W, just west of Magnolia Animal Hospital.

Owner Michelle Parsons is on the right

When you walk in to Acorn, it is like entering a magical woodland- filled with flowers, branches,?barks and mosses.? Tucked in among the greenery?are tiny treasures made by local artists, unique hostess gifts,?candles,?hand-made chocolates and more.

Owner Michelle?Parsons welcomed me with?a delicious?chocolate sample (always a great start!) and allowed me to ask her a few questions about Magnolia’s newest flower and gift shop.

Parsons lives in Ballard, where she has been a florist for 17 years.? She recently outgrew her studio, and?took a leap of faith and jumped into retail.?Michelle looked all over for just the right neighborhood?for?this unique shop and found the perfect spot right here in?Magnolia.??Michelle is a true floral designer- Acorn does weddings,?holiday installations,?business floral decor and delivery, and even planter design.

In addition to picture-perfect?arrangements and bouquets, I?saw local garden “Bon bons”-seeds that look like chocolates ($15.95 for 8), Little Suzy vases, yummy scented candles, and?tons of other?gift ideas (in case any of my friends are reading this).

I should mention that I went back about a week later after my initial visit, and was hoping for a?tiny bouquet for a luncheon.? I hadn’t noticed that it was a?Tuesday (a day that they are normally open by appointment only), But Michelle was in there, working away.? I?tapped on the?(locked) glass door anyway.??I was greeted with a smile, and she gladly wrapped me up the cutest little vase of flowers ever,?and then?jumped right back?to work.

  1. Love this new addition to our village. Finally, something to take a bit of the sting out of Around the Block being gone. Now Magnolians shop here so she can stay in Magnolia.
