Many of you noticed a huge fire and aid response in the 2400 block of West Commodore yesterday. It turns out, Seattle Firefighters were called to the area for reports of a suicidal man who had set a fire. Seattle Fire Department’s Public Information, Officer Kyle Moore says:
The odor of solvent could be detected from the area where the man in his 50’s was located. Then light smoke came from the same area so we called for a full fire response and a hazardous material call. Firefighters put out the fire quickly which was caused by rags lit on fire. The man eventually surrendered to Seattle Police Officers.
He says the man was transported to Harborview Medical Center by Medics for treatment after he injured himself in the suicide attempt. No one else was injured.
