House at 35th Avenue West burglarized

Thieves used a crow bar to pry open a side window of a home at 35th Avenue West and West Dravus Street where several sentimental items were taken.

The burglary, says the homeowner, took place on Jan. 8. After the window was pried open, the thieves took jewelry including an engagement ring and more. The homeowner said insurance will cover some of the losses but not all. Most notably, the owners think they may have cut the burglary short when they returned.

“although we can?t be sure,” the homeowner said.

When police arrived, the officer taking down the report noted that as many as 10 houses in the neighboring area had been burglarized recently.?Then on Sunday, the homeowner said there??was an attempted break-in across the street. Police are asking that if anyone sees anything suspicious, to call 911. The officer who came by said someone had gotten photos of a green Cadillac with five youths with stolen merchandise in it. But, so far, no arrests.

The same officer who filed the report for the homeowner earlier in this story, told the homeowner that the reason he showed up an hour after being called was because Seattle Police is short staffed. The homeowner wanted to give a heads up to neighbors that they had better keep a sharp look out for unusual or suspicious activity in the neighborhood.
