Discovery Park draws hundreds – an eagle, too

Hundreds of hikers, trailers, bird watchers and revelers of the outdoors took advantage of the spectacular weather over the weekend, weather that while crisp, afforded unobstructed views of the ferry dotted Puget Sound and snowy capped Olympics. One of the more compelling views that had families stop and stare (some with cameras and even telescopes) was a bald eagle which was perched on a bare madrona above the beach on the park’s southern tip.

This bald eagle caught a fish and flew it up to the tree where it could eat it with no interlopers. Photo by Jesse Kineman.

Seattle Parks and Recreation staff were on hand to show off some of the creatures native to the park.
