As Magnolia neighbors began their day yesterday, a silver SUV driving along the 2600 block of 32nd Avenue West flipped and left the still-belted driver upside-down behind the wheel.
At 8:51 a.m., one minute after the incident was called in, Seattle Fire Department?s Engine 41 arrived on the scene at the corner of West Armour Street and 32nd Avenue West where the SUV was still upside down, but the driver, a young man in his 30s, had climbed out, apparently unscathed, and was talking on his cell phone.
?We didn?t treat or transport him at all,? said SFD spokesperson Kyle Moore. ?The response was there was a person trapped and when the fire department got there, he was out and on his phone. That happens a lot that 911 calls say one thing and then there?s a different reality.?
Engine 41 was at the scene for 10 minutes, a medic unit was there for another five. Seattle Police had cordoned off the street until a tow truck arrived, righted the vehicle and took it away.
Seriously, time to slow down and quit driving down the roads like no one else is on them!
I heard (of course this is speculation) that he was texting and that his tire caught a parked Seattle Parks trailer , which had the ramp down to offload.? Driving up the ramp?apparently caused him to flip.? Again…just what’s floating around the neighborhood.
Not sure what is worse, driving too fast down these streets , texting , or talking on the handset. Seems to be lots of this happening. Also that intersection coming down Armour has seen it’s fair share of accidents , there was one on 31st and Armour less then a year ago where the car flipped as well. Maybe we need a few YEILD signs at least in ONE direction……
This is a school zone. ?How fast do you need to be going to FLIP your vehicle? ?Any story on what happened to cause this accident? ?Was the driver cited?
geesh!? so quick to judge.? maybe he swerved to avoid hitting a darting cat or squirrel.?
Hard to flip a vehicle traveling at 20 mph or less. Just sayin’.
you guys are so judgemental.?? Wait until you make a mistake; maybe that’s what it will take to shake your “holier than thou” attitudes”!?
*judgmental
As a resident on this block people need to slow down. No doubt he was driving fast and wreckless with kids walking to school on the sidewalks…. I say good one sir.
and at least he continued his texting and phone calls standing there looking at hs vehicle. Folks…. he went up a ramp and flipped his vehicle U really think he was not wreckless??
He drove UP the ramp on the Parks and Rec truck that carries the trailer for the lawnmower! I walked right by him and it. How can we NOT judge 32nd and 34th right in front of a SCHOOL???? How’d you feel if you killed a kid texting??? SLOW DOWN for the love….
Hey Jessica!? Jerry Newman here with a policy question….
