It’s not in Magnolia, but one of our readers saw something on a bus about a mushroom festival happening and asked the Voice check it out. Well, here’s the scoop. The 2011 Wild Mushroom Show is happening at noon to 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, and from 10 a.m. to ?5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Mountaineer’s Club at 7700 Sand Point Way N.E.
The exhibit is one of the biggest in the country with more than 200 varieties of wild mushrooms displayed, identified and classified as edible, poisonous or plain useless. Visitors are welcome to bring their own garden mushrooms for on-site experts to identify. If that’s what you want to do, the exhibit suggests you bring the whole mushroom, roots and all.
There will be a slide show, lecture and a tasting of mushrooms prepared by some of Seattle’s finest chefs. There will be photo displays, field guides, cookbooks and other take-home items available. Click here for more information.
