The Seattle Public Library is seeking help to maintain the grounds at its branches, including the Magnolia Library at 2801 34th Ave West. Volunteer work parties will be scheduled June through October and volunteers will weed gardens, rake leaves and pick up litter. The library hopes that the gardening work will be an opportunity for friends, families and company teams to volunteer together. Volunteers need to be at least 15 years old and high school students can obtain service-learning hours for graduation requirements.
The time commitment is flexible. Volunteers can sign up for gardening work parties throughout the summer and fall, or assist with a one-time project. Work parties will be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
