As we have reported, Sustainable Magnolia has received funding from the Department of Neighborhoods through its Small and Simple matching grant program to fund a project entitled ?Envisioning a Vibrant Community Gathering Place for Manor Park.? The amount awarded is $20,000, and is expected to be matched in the form of volunteer hours and resources,
The group has also announced the selection of Seattle firm Site Workshop to be the project?s landscape architect. According to Nancy Spragins, Committee chair, Site Workshop has ?a track record of projects which speak to its talents in delivering thoughtfully designed multi-use parks, including Ella Bailey Park. We are looking forward to working with Site Workshop to engage the community and bring a thoughtfully-designed sustainable park to Magnolia.?
An informal ?Walk In The Park? is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 10:00am to 12:00pm, where the community will be invited to walk the site and discuss ideas with the project landscape architect and committee.
Congratulations on receiving the matching grant.
Let me know if you would like us feature the grant on our website: http://www.mathchingdonations.org
I would watch where you walk!
