  1. What I am hearing from a nurse at Harborview is a male was stabbed in the chest. No additional details.

    1. Magnolia is getting horrible crime reports lately. Stabbings, burglaries, car break-ins, muggings, robberies, stolen prized footballs, guys taking pics of women in short tennis skirts. When is this going to get better? We need more patrols.

      1. While I don’t want to minimize anyone’s crime concerns, the only neighborhoods I’ve lived in where I’ve felt as safe (I’ve lived here my whole life) are Washington Park, where I grew up, and Hawthorne Hills, where I lived during college. Roosevelt and the University District, where I lived between college and moving here last year, need patrols more than we do. If you think Magnolia crime is “horrible,” what must you think of what’s going on in the rest of the city?

        1. So eric then you really are just as “boring” as those so called 12 year olds that post here. Yawn?.goad all you want.

          1. Well I travel the world each year, teach refugees and people from all kinds of places each day at local institutions, am a noted painter, study French, hike/walk at least 25 miles a week. So yes, the little blog is a little amusement, but since most people watch TV or would not recall anything they did in the last week of note, I am rarely called boring, but its ok if you consider me so, because I also rarely care about other’s opinions of me. I am rather self realized and, perhaps in your opinion, over assured of my own self worth. Addressing your post, in my opinion none of them responds to my goading because they don’t have enough of a command of English or the intelligence to try.

          2. I’m not special. I am just trying to eliminate the sexual postings by letting them know that I can wipe out anything they might say by using my most casual verbal skills….they could never say anything I couldn’t ridicule with ease. The goal I have in mind in that this site would just be community postings without the idiot stuff and the sexual innuendos. So yes, lets talk about constructive things we can do to make Magnolia better. I hike regularly in Discovery Park and am eager to hear from others on how this issue is progressing (the gate), etc. Think of me as a kind of “Off” bug spray for those adolescent type postings..

          3. ericsmith, your highbrow comments always crack me up. Keep up the good work, it’s very entertaining.

          4. All of you are more accomplished than I am, I am sure. But if you have a more effective way to get rid of the nasty sexual posters than taking them on, go for it. I just respond to things by countering them. I think we deserve to have a site that is a good place to discuss neighborhood issues rather than just letting it become a place for writings better suited for a bathroom wall. You’d want the same in the Village, no? Would you like to read comments on camel toe sprayed on the outside wall of Serendipity? Or maybe comments about the lack of breast exposure of the people who work at the day care center? Would you allow people to urinate in public on El Ranchon? Its the same here…I have found that they never think fast enough to respond back and they stop posting. Let’s use your method instead.

          5. Whoa eric pally?..nasty sexual posters?? Please cite ?…I don’t see any “nasty sexual posters.” Instead I see a poster who is almighty higher than anybody else here implying his education is better than all and we all should bow to your pedestal. I bet you are the one who crumbles his empty latte cup and tosses it down on the sidewalk for someone else to retrieve eh? You are the only one bringing up “nasty” here with your commentary on public urination and breast exposure?..eh? Big guy? Huh? Huh? You are such a tool.

          6. One caveat, Bart: much of what we are writing here started in the article about the German beer garden at some restaurant. That is where all the breast discussion started. I apologize for bringing that discussion over to this stabbing posting…but the camel toe guy came out of his hole..and personaly, I felt it was inappropriate. You may feel differently..may enjoy that kind of posting…and I accept that.

          7. Can you form an argument to support that? That is the difference between just a blurt of emotion based on nothing but your frustration/anger/etc… and a formed thought requiring thinking and addressing something in particular I said.

          8. Just google it “eric.” And get off your high horse with your uppity up comments. This is a forum not a better than thou running of the mouth thread. Sheesh.

          9. You are right, Tim. It started on another post about young women serving beers at an Octoberfest kind of thing and the posters and postings were all sexual and insulting to women, so I took them on. The only reason it went into this post is because one of them came back like a disease onto this story too. This is indeed not about body parts, but if you look back a few stories you’ll see that is just what they were talking about, and in the coarsest way imaginable. I guess I could be like everyone else and just ignore them, but they don’t go away unless they are countered, and that appears to work, so I do it. The main topic, of course, is the stabbing…but if you look above you’ll see the fellow or woman or whatever it is who brought the sexual talk into this story too.
Sorry to offend you, truly, but ignoring things don’t make them go away. Just my opinion. Probably isn’t shared by most.

      2. Mighty white of you. You need to spend more time in a neighborhood that has real crime so you can see how easy we have it over here. More than one SPD officer has told me that Magnolia is a dream beat, even relative to Queen Anne.

        1. “Mighty white of you?” I didn’t see any racial overtones in Janis’s post. Really Mary? Really? Don’t bring your prejudice into this.

  2. Magnolia Fire Station 41 said this was a self inflicted knife wound. No assault. Dispatch information is standardized and “assault” is used when weapons are used. Seattle Fire uses the abbreviation AWW “Assault with weapons” even when it involves only one person.

    1. What a waste of resources to have a “7 per rule” response when someone cuts themselves paring potatoes.
