Lock your (empty) car doors, neighbors!

We received this?email from an MV reader yesterday (Tuesday).? A good reminder that it isn’t just houses that are being broken into…
Hi, Our car was parked on the street and broken into last night on 31st Ave W & Dravus St. Fortunately we don’t keep anything of real value in it so it looks like they just rummaged through papers and took some petty items, but it’s still unnerving. Just a reminder for people who have to park on the street to keep their cars locked and empty.
Thanks for the email!

  1. I emailed the Magnolia Voice in February after my car was broken into, as well as 10 other cars in the neighborhood, and you never wrote about it. At least five police reports were filed with no followup by the police. When are we going to stop these people from terrorizing our neighborhood already? It is obviously the same people coming back over and over.

    1. We try to get to every story. Thanks so much for your email. I am so sorry we missed this!

  2. Same thing happened to my car last June. Live by the water tower. Filed police report so they can see “the trend” up here. Car was unlocked but nothing stolen. They didn’t even bother with my parking change. They were looking for tech toys. Thinking about buying some “adult diapers” applying brown stains, and putting them (and the packaging) in plain view. Old people = no tech toys.

Seems Magnolia has a big bulls-eye on it lately. And with declining budgets for police and such, I see it getting worse.

  3. My car was broken into a month ago. A passing cop noticed the damage and filed the report for me, posting a copy through the broken window. Great service.

    1. Thanks for the positive post. Giving props to the cops is very rare on Magnolia Voice, though they deserve appreciation for the challenging work they do every day in our community.
