Sadly, I received a call from Heather this afternoon, telling me that?Cocoa and Cream is?closing up shop. The sweet little?store in the?village will scoop its?last?cone on?Sunday.? She sent this email earlier?this afternoon:

It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing that after 5 years in Magnolia, Cocoa & Cream is closing on September 23, 2012.? Despite all the energy and effort that we have put into the shop it has not attracted enough business to sustain.? We will miss all our loyal customers, the happy kids, our Halloween costume contest, spring egg hunt and summer fest talent show.? Thank you to all of you who supported us throughout the years and made this such a fun place to come to work.

As we move on we hope to someday resurrect Cocoa & Cream.? It is such a cheerful place that has put smiles on many faces.?

Please stop by this weekend to say goodbye.? Everything will be 30% off on Friday, 40% off on Saturday, and 50% off on Sunday while supplies last.

Now for our happy ending: we are starting a dessert catering company.? Happy Endings Dessert Catering will continue to bring happiness through sweets.? So, if you need a candy buffet, ice cream sundae bar, afternoon tea, party favors, or a dessert extravaganza at any special occasion, child?s birthday party, corporate event, shower or wedding please keep us in mind.? Every event deserves a Happy Ending!? www.Happyendingsdessert.com

Heather, Mark, Lucy and Jasper??????

Good luck on your new venture!? Thank you for your years of service to our community.? You will be missed.

  1. So sad to see this darling shop go. I bought my granddaughter her first ice cream cone here. Unfortunately for Magnolia, the big guys win out….and I do love Menchies, but there is nothing like real ice cream and small hometown businesses. Good luck Heather in your next adventure.

  2. Cocoa & cream was always supporting the community; they sponsored the summer fest aren’t show, donated to Blaine, etc. I wish we as a community had supported them back. 🙁

    1. I couldn’t agree more. Cocoa & Cream contributed so much to this community. It’s very sad, albeit eye opening, to see that the people of Magnolia were unwilling to return the favor.

  3. A “cash only” business is naturally going to struggle to stay afloat in 2012. Great news though, I heard a rumor that someone is going to turn that location into an Italian restaurant!

  4. Sorry for the owners, but it was very expensive for what you received (the amount they charged for literally a few sprinkles was criminal). It wasn’t always very clean looking and I couldn’t figure out how it stayed in business this long. My kids liked it so I would grudgingly give in and overpay for ice cream, but frankly, I won’t miss it. Sorry. 🙁

  5. Loved the shop and the kids who worked there generally provided nice service. The prices were better than Baskin and other shops . . . but it wasn’t about the price, or event the ice cream. . . . it added a lot to a summer night to hang out with your family and see other folks. At the end of the day, no one is going to eat or drink in Magnolia because it’s the best deal or quality — it’s about seeing your neighbors. Thanks Cocoa and Cream. Good luck with the next venture (but I sugget a new name)

  6. I agree with several of the comments here. Cocoa & Cream was very expensive for what you got, and the product wasn’t that good. The place wasn’t always clean and it wasn’t comfortable to sit inside. I would imagine that their new catering business will suffer the same fate.
