Following a rash of graffiti vandalism that hit the Village Thursday night, Seattle police Detective Mark Jamieson countered earlier reports in which arrests were reportedly made by Seattle police. Jamieson said Seattle police made no arrests.
Officers stopped and spoke with people in the area following a report of someone tossing spray paint cans into a dumpster. No actual containers were found, and the interviewees were allowed to leave.
?Incidents need to be documented,? implored Det. Jameison. ?If you see it report it.?
Tag design and characteristics are noted by police in order to understand patterns. This will eventually lead to arrests, he pointed out.
SPD has a section dedicated to apprehending graffiti vandals. If you see this crime in progress, call 911. If graffiti appears in your neighborhood report it online or call (206) 684-7587. Click here for the online form.
